Ward's Eagle Project

·         “The Giving Garden”, a 30’ x 30’ vegetable garden at the Wyckoff Reformed Church

·         Harvested food is donated to the Oasis Shelter for Women in Paterson, NJ

·         Garden was completed in the summer of 2016

·         Even with a short season, we  produced over 700 pounds of fresh food for Oasis in 2016

·         Oasis is looking forward to the 2017 harvest season and has already put a request in for vegetables based on requests from the women they help

·         Ward planned and managed the preparation of the area, building of the 8 raised vegetable garden beds, and installation of the beds, soil, weed mat, and mulch

·         Took over 200 man hours to complete and involved over 30 Scouts and Adults

Other Scouting Highlights:

·         Ward has earned 40 merit badges - The Eagle Requirement is only 21

·         Ward is currently the Assistant Senior Patrol Leader and has also held the positions of Den Chief, Patrol Leader, Guide, and Instructor

·         Ward loves camping and has gone on over 30 outings - His highlights include 5 years at NoBeBoSco, the Naval Academy STEM program,  the West Point Camporee, and the Floodwood High Adventure camp.  This summer, he will be part of the Troop 89 Philmont High Adventure team where they will be hiking 80 miles over 12 days in New Mexico

Outside of Scouting:

·         Ward attends Ramapo High School

·         He is a member of the winter track and spring track teams where he runs the 100m, 200m, and 400m events and 4x100m relay

·         He plays the trumpet as part of Ramapo’s Symphonic, Jazz, and Marching bands

·         Ward enjoys playing soccer, bicycling, and flying his RC planes & drones

·         Ward is active in the church in both their mission trips and as a youth leader in their vacation bible school program
